DIY on a Budget for the Bachelor

As an island in the ocean of humanity, being a bachelor means that you have total control over your world. You decide whether or not to clean your bachelor pad, if you have pizza for breakfast, and how you choose to divvy up your money.

Unfortunately, bachelors are not always made of money as most would suspect. You would think there is only one person to take care of so it makes sense that the single man would have more cash than the average Joe.

This is not always the case. As any responsible adult, you probably have a car payment, rent, a light bill, and more than likely several different technological charges. With that said, finances can tend to be a little on the shy side. Below are three ways you can save a little even as a bachelor.

Landscaping

Just because you are single doesn’t mean that you can’t take a little pride in your dwelling. The majority of single men enjoy the temporariness of renting, but if you are one of the few who is attempting to build a solid life with the goal of a family and a place to live out the adventure of life, there will come a time when you want to spruce the place up.

You may just want to change things up a bit. However, you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to do it. There are many people who don’t trust their own imagination when it comes to landscaping and waste thousands of dollars on hiring professional landscapers, but you are a bachelor.

You taught yourself almost everything you know. You take care of everything in your life. Planting a garden is easy. Take this opportunity to learn something new and save the money. Do it yourself. Pick out your favorite flowers, trees, and bushes and look up a how-to on Youtube.

Manscaping

Let’s face it. The life of a single man is not for the faint of heart. Women expect much more these days than in the days of hoop skirts and bowties. There is a market for the gruff hillbilly, the clean-cut military man, the jock, and the needy nerd.

Each holds its own list of approved characteristics. One that all have in common is the need for a specific type of manscaping. The country boy might take on the challenge of the ZZ Top beard and cultivate a garden of curlies on his chest.

The military man is a job made with short, clean cut hair off the collar and manscaping below the belt that tends to follow suit. Either way, this practice can break the bank if you don’t have access to a few secrets. Number one trick to saving money? Don’t do anything that would cost you unnecessarily. Make sure to sanitize any tools you use.

This will prevent bacterial infections. Where possible, wax away unwanted hair instead of shaving. Waxing leaves you hairless for a longer period of time, thus saving money on how often you have the need to manscape.

Romance

As an available man on the market of love, there is a certain level of monetary wellness that a woman expects to see in her potential mate. With that said, most women have higher priorities that money. Granted, they probably wouldn’t give a homeless bum the time of day, but a man that can show her a good time on a budget is more attractive than you think.

Are you wooing a lady in Spring? Invest the time in a picnic in overlooking a bluff. You’ll have everything you need to sweep her off her feet. A romantic view, good food, and plenty of time to listen to every sweet word she says will set the bar high without running your funds low. Looking for a less expensive night on the town?

Believe it or not, there are women out there who would give you a run for your money in a competitive game of gooney golf or race around the track in go-karts. The big thing to take away here? Money is not the root of romance. Spending more does not guarantee a better relationship.

Being a bachelor is tough enough without living under the impression that money makes the man. Refer here for tips on saving more and spending less.
