How to Wear Jeans in Summer

Decades have passed, and yet jeans are still one of the go-to uniforms of urban life. They go with anything, and most guys can’t imagine their closet without a good pair of jeans to get them through the day and be perfectly comfortable and look cool on anyone’s body. But once the temperatures start rising, how do you still make sure you look good in jeans, and not simply like a guy who’s too lazy to care about what he’s wearing? Well, with the right tips, you don’t need to sacrifice the style at all. If you want to know what to get and how to wear it, check out our suggestions.

Get the right fabric

Now’s not really the time for raw denim, as good as it might have looked in fall and winter. Since jeans come in a lot of variety you can definitely find materials that are a lot lighter and summer appropriate, so go for softer, easier fabrics with more stretch to them.

Wear lighter colors

Pre-washed denim will look amazing in summer, especially because it won’t attract the heat nearly as much as dark jeans do. It can also look very old school if you pair it with a graphic tee and a denim jacket, and maybe add a pair of chucks to that. You know what’s also a great idea? White denim. It’s a neutral, versatile color that goes with pretty much anything, and the only downside of it is that it can get dirty pretty quickly if you aren’t careful. However, as long as you pay attention to where you sit, while pants are an excellent, stylish choice for summer that will immediately make you stand out.

Go for a classic cut

Skinny jeans can be great if you style them right, but for summer they’re just going to end up feeling restrictive. Any kind of pants that look like someone sprayed them on you will feel tight and make you sweat far too much, and it’s a lot better to simply go for a classic or loose cut in the sweltering heat. Besides, there’s nothing like a pair of straight leg men’s jeans to make you look lean and stylish. They go well with any kind of wardrobe, and the classic cut can actually end up making you look timelessly sophisticated and masculine.

Pick silk or linen shirts

Short-sleeved shirts are perfect for summer, but instead of cotton, you might want to opt for materials such as silk or linen. Raw silk looks and feels pretty spectacular, and it’s simply far too practical to skip during the heated days. You can also pick a long-sleeved button down and then roll the sleeves up to make yourself look even more stylish.

Try distressed denim

Hey, those rips can actually act almost like a venting system! The weather is perfect for distressed denim, and it’s an easy way to add some visual interest to your outfit and take it from plain to edgy. However, we recommend that you keep it simple and stick to pants with only a few strategically placed rips. Anything more than that can end up making you look like a homeless person or someone who just survived a plane crash.

Why not go for shorts?

Denim shorts can be a good part of the athleisure style, so wear them with a good pair of sneakers to get the full effect. We recommend Bermuda or Capri-length shorts, and feel free to pick something a little more form-fitting. Loose denim shorts can give you that “dad fixing stuff around the garage” kind of look that’s not always ideal if you are trying to be fashionable.

Accessorize right

Jeans can look a little too casual sometimes, so if you want to bring the polish to your outfit, it’s important to accessorize. With a good wristwatch and a pair of aviator sunglasses, you can already take it to the next level, but you should also pay attention to your shoes and belt and make sure they are color-coordinated.

Don’t worry, denim is a perfectly viable fashion choice even in summer. Just try these tips and enjoy the sunny weather in your cool outfits.
